Trade Union of Worker’s in trade sector, Slovenia (SDTS)

SDTS is a voluntary and democratic organisation, independent of political parties, parliament, government and religious communities. Solely membership fees and project work fund SDTS.

The Slovenian Trade Union of Worker’s in trade sector (SDTS) is according to the decision of the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs designated as the representative Trade Union in the trade sector. SDTS is a member of the Association of Free Trade Unions of Slovenia (ZSSS), the largest trade union Association in Slovenia. In total 22 sectoral trade unions are forming the ZSSS.

The advantage of SDTS, over other trade union organisations, is its regional union organization network that allows us to provide legal, professional and other assistance to our members in the entire territory of Slovenia. We operate through five regional committees (Osrednjeslovenska, Primorska and notranjska, Savinjska, Podravje in Koroška, Pomurje).

The number of our members far exceeds the number determined in Representativeness of Trade Unions Act (Official Journal of RS, No.13/1993).

Education of our members is carried out in the framework of the Association of Free Trade Unions of Slovenia. Our internal education in our sectoral trade union is carried out with the help of external experts, and also with our employees.

Activities of the Slovenian Trade Union of Worker’s in trade sector (SDTS) are carried out in a multi-dimensional way. The bases are surveys and overview of the actual situation in the trade sector. To gain the data for the whole Slovenia, the trade union representatives (confidants) are included, as well as trade union secretariat of the regional committees.
